Defensive Player: Brian Urlacher
Rookie: Reggie Bush
1. John Elway-Denver Broncos (1983-1998)
Elway played such spectacular football that he lead the Broncos to a 161-93-1 record when he was at the helm. He was the MVP in Super Bowl XXXIV, the second of his back to back Super Bowls. He has a record 40 4th quarter comebacks for a win.

2. Terry Bradshaw-Pitsburgh Steelers (1970-1983)
Bradshaw was Superbowl MVP for XIII and XIV. Along with the Steel Curtain, Bradshaw helped lead the Steelers to four Superbowl victories. He played in 3 Pro Bowls and won NFL MVP once.

3. Dan Marino-Miami Dolphins (1983-1999)
Marino was such a fantastic quarterback that he was the only rookie QB to start in the Pro Bowl. He also holds the record for passing yards in a season (5,084) and career passing yards (61,361).
1. Walter Payton-Chicago Bears (1975-1987)
When Walter retired, he held many records. He had the most rushing yards in NFL history (16,726) which was beat recently by Emmit Smith. Walter also had 10 1,000-yard seasons. He has the most rushing yards in one game (275), 77 100-yard games, and 110 touchdowns.

2. Barry Sanders-Detroit Lions (1989-1999)
Barry Sanders retired so early in his career that he it is hard to compare him to some of the other greats but he was still an amazing back. He had 109 touchdowns in his career, but I think his greatest acomplishment was rushing 2,053 yards in one season. There is all this, but words can't describe Barry, to see what he is truly like you have to click here to see his amazing talent for yourself.

3. Emmit Smith-Dallas Cowboys (1990-2005)
Emmit Currently hold the record for most all time rushing yards (18, 355) and attempts (4,409). He is one of only four players in NFL history to have over 21,000 total yards in his career. He was the first to rush for 1,000 yards in 11 straight seasons and is second on the all-time touchdown list with 175 touchdowns, the only player with more is Jerry Rice

Here I will break down some of my favorite rookies and some of the draft picks I think were the smartest, and least smart, this year.

Mario Williams - Houston Texans: I really disagree with this pick. Their defence isn't there problem, but neither is their backfield, so I wouldn't agree with Reggie Bush being picked either. Their problem is their o-line, so I think they should have picked D'Brickshaw Ferguson. He would help protect David Carr, and I think that if Carr has protection he could be a good quarterback.

Reggie Bush - New Orleans Saints: Although I'm surprised Bush went second, I don't think the Saints need him either. They have a good back in Deuce McCallister. I think A.J. Hawk would have been a good pick, even though it's only the second pick. Right now the Saints defence isn't too bad, but Hawk would add a good presence at linebacker.

Vince Young - Tennesse Titans: I think this was a great pick when McNair was still a Titan. McNair and Young are both mobile quarterbacks that can take a hit. Because of their similar styles, McNair would have been a great mentor for Young and helped him develop into one of the best QBs in the Leauge. Now that McNair is gone, I think Young wont live up to what I previously mentioned, but will still be a great quarterback.

D'Brickshaw Ferguson - New York Jets: I think this was another smart pick, D'brickshaw is a great blocker that I think will do very well alongside Anthony Clement protecting the Jets new addition, quarterback Patrick Ramsey.

Vernon Davis - San Fransisco 49ers: I think this pick was a fairly good one. Vernon Davis is quite a unique tight end though, so it is hard to tell how he will do inthe NFL. He ran a 4.38 on the 40 yard dash wich is good for a reciever, never mind a tight end. He also managed a respectable 33 bench press reps of a 225lb weight. He will be a great target for young quarterback Alex Smith.
LUIS FIGO

Figo is a midfielder and winger for Inter-Milan. He also plays for the Portugese national team who made it to the semi-finals of the 2006 FIFA world cup in Germany where they lost to France. Figo has been chosen as the first AOTW because of his great performance in the world cup. He played 528 minutes in 7 games, the third most on his team. He also had 3 assists and 4 shots on goal. In international play he has 127 appearances and 32 goals.
